Channel 4’s ‘Hunted’ star Jordan Wylie MBE abseils Spinnaker Tower
TV daredevil and extreme adventurer Jordan Wylie MBE is to tackle a thrilling abseil down Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower to raise funds for a charity supporting young army cadets.
Former soldier Jordan will make the adrenaline-fuelled 100-metre descent at 11am on Saturday May 11 as part of his Tower Power expedition, in support of the Army Cadet Charitable Trust (ACCT).
Tower Power is a triathlon with a difference which has seen Jordan travel from the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, via the Eiffel Tower in France, before heading to Spinnaker Tower. He is scheduled to finish at Blackpool Tower on May 17.
Jordan is making the journey as sustainably as possible, by riding a wooden bicycle, paddling a kayak made from recycled plastic bottles, and running up to 3,000km.
Tony Sammut, General Manager at Spinnaker Tower, said: “At Spinnaker Tower we are all amazed and inspired by Jordan. We look forward to welcoming him to Spinnaker Tower to experience the amazing rush of descending 100 metres down our waterfront landmark in aid of a good cause.
“He will join the hundreds of people of all ages who have taken on the challenge over the years, raising more than £500,000 for charities along the way.”
Jordan’s journey has raised over £12,000 so far for the Army Cadet Charitable Trust (ACCT UK), a charity that exists to ensure life changing opportunities are accessible to all young people.
Part of the proceeds raised will also go towards a memorial wall in Blackpool, in memory of nine-year-old Jordan Banks who died after being struck by lightning during a football training session on May 11, 2021.
Spinnaker Tower is the iconic landmark of the waterfront skyline of Portsmouth, offering stunning 23-mile views from 170m above sea level.
From April to September, guests can abseil the tower as a personal challenge, charity fundraiser or team-building exercise.
