Spinnaker Tower will proudly roar in 2026 as a proud supporter and sponsor of the upcoming citywide The Pride of Portsmouth art trail.
The public art trail will be a key part of the city’s vibrant celebrations marking Portsmouth 100 – a major campaign to honour a century of Portsmouth’s city status.
Artist-designed lion sculptures will take pride of place across key locations throughout Portsmouth, each telling a unique story about the city’s heritage, landmarks and people. The project brings together creativity, community and business in a spectacular celebration of local identity and imagination – culminating in a Big Farewell and Charity Auction later in the summer of 2026.
For the tower team, this partnership is a natural fit. Our mission is to celebrate stories beyond the view – showcasing over 1,700 years of history visible from our iconic panoramic view. By sponsoring a lion, we’re extending that storytelling beyond the tower itself, helping to connect guests and residents alike with Portsmouth’s culture and sense of pride.
Our lion sculpture will be positioned in a key trail location, offering fantastic visibility and engagement with anyone following the trail. Visitors will be encouraged to stop, snap photos and share their experiences across social media, spreading the roar even further.
The journey begins on 11th February 2026, when we’ll meet the talented artist bringing our lion to life at the official Meet the Artist event. By March, artists across the city will begin painting their lions, ready for the grand Lions Unleashed launch in April – when the full trail will roar into view.
The project will conclude with the Big Farewell exhibition in July, followed by the Charity Auction in September 2025, raising funds for local causes and leaving a lasting legacy for the community to enjoy.
