Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower will commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a special photography exhibition, light show and more.
From June 1 to 9, Spinnaker Tower’s view deck, 100 metres above the harbour, will display a selection of striking D-Day photographs on loan from The D-Day Story, Portsmouth and The News.
Captured in June 1944, these photos show some of the unmissable sights you can see from the tower and tell the story of British troops leaving Portsmouth Harbour for Normandy.
Visitors on June 5 will have the best vantage point for national commemorations on Southsea Common and be dazzled by the hair-raising Battle of Britain flypast. They’ll be transported back to the wartime era with live performances by talented singers.

From our panoramic view deck, visitors can not only enjoy the spectacular views of the harbour, but also grasp the bravery of soldiers departing for Normandy and Portsmouth’s important role in history.

Between June 1 and 9, Spinnaker Tower guests with an all-day admission ticket will receive a voucher for a complimentary cream tea in the waterfront Spinnaker Kitchen and Bar.
The evenings of June 5 and 6 will see Spinnaker Tower illuminated in red, white and blue and the interior decorated with bunting to honour D-Day.
All-day admission tickets allow guests to return at any time on the same day to experience the ever-changing 23-mile views, thrilling ‘Sky Walk’ and open-air Sky Garden.
