Tara and Tom’s sky-high love story

Tara Taylor and her fiancé, Tom, know just how magical a proposal at Spinnaker Tower can be. Tom got down on one knee in April 2023 on the tower’s famous glass floor, with miles of coastline stretching beneath them.

“I was completely shocked when he proposed! The views were absolutely incredible, and I’ve always loved heights, so it was perfect for me,” Tara recalls.

The couple met through Tara’s work as an estate agent when she helped Tom find his first property while he was serving in the Navy. Their love story continued to flourish, even during months apart due to Tom’s stationing at HMS Collingwood. When Tara arrived in Portsmouth for what she thought would be a casual shopping weekend, little did she know, Tom had planned the ultimate surprise.

“The weather that day was so perfect; the sky was crystal clear. It felt like we were on top of the world,” she added.

‘This is how our forever started’

For O’Meara Rusike, Spinnaker Tower will always hold a special place in her heart. She said ‘yes’ to her now-husband, Dexter, in September 2024, surrounded by the breathtaking views of Portsmouth.

“I got engaged to the man that stole my heart and kept it in the safest place. This is how our forever started,” O’Meara shared.

After years of long-distance love, O’Meara and Dexter finally reunited in the UK. During what she thought was a simple family celebration, Dexter, her brother, and his girlfriend had something much bigger planned – a surprise proposal at the tower.
