We will proudly light up in rainbow colours to mark the start of UK Pride 2025, which is being hosted in Portsmouth.
On Friday 6th June, our city’s most iconic landmark will shine brightly as a bold symbol of visibility, unity and support for the LGBTQ+ community. As thousands of visitors arrive in Portsmouth for this historic weekend, we’re proud to be playing a central role in the celebrations.
For the team here at the Tower, this is more than just a stunning visual. It’s a powerful statement of our values and commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for everyone.
“It feels like we are part of something special,” said Paul Pycroft, who has worked at the tower since it opened in 2005. “It’s always been an incredibly welcoming environment and a great opportunity to extend that spirit to the wider world.”
James Duncan, also part of our Guest Services team, added: “It’s a privilege to be part of an attraction that supports the Pride community. For my teammates and I, it means a lot to work in a place that embraces and celebrates everyone.”
Last month, we also flew one of the world’s largest Pride flags – measuring over 60 metres – to kick off the Pride countdown. That same flag will now take centre stage in the UK Pride parade.
We’re also honoured to host the official UK Pride opening event, welcoming organisers from across the country.
As always, Spinnaker Tower stands tall not just as a landmark – but as a symbol of Portsmouth’s proud, inclusive spirit.
